Treasuring Our Children – Working with & Protect

For whom do you volunteer?*
You Can Accomplish So Much in a Child’s Life By Being a Volunteer!
And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.
But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them,
"Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it."
And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
(Mark 10:13-16)

We welcome you to this on-line training course. We have created it because we value you, your time, and your gift to children.

The first way that we can treasure and protect all children is through knowing what is expected of each of us when we are with children and how we can best create a place of safety and learning for them. This means learning how to maximize the positive power we have to give to children.
Unfortunately, it also means learning to be ever aware of the danger signals when something is not right and being ready to act on that – through listening carefully, following safety procedures, changing situations to ensure safety, and reporting on incidents that exemplify red flags.
All adults are called to be protectors of children. The Diocese of Superior asks that ALL volunteers be manditory reporters. So it’s important to be informed!

We all have the power to help the children of our community to thrive.
